Insect diversity investigation of shelter forests along the coast of Zhejiang Province was carried on in Cixi, Shangyu and Wenling. According to the survey and references, 8,754 specimen were recorded, belonging to 14 orders, 103 families. The number of Coleoptera, Diptera and Homoptera, which were the dominant groups, accounted for 71% of the total number of family, genera and species quantity. Richness index (Dm), dominance index (D), diversity index (H′), evenness index (J′) were used to study the diversity of 6 representative habitats. The results show that the stability and richness of insect communities in coastal shelter forests was poor, but the intensity of insects was high.Anoplophora glabripennis,Anoplophora chinensis and Batocera horsfieldi were the main dominant pests of shelter forests along the coast. Different combinations of insecticides were used to control the dominant pests in Cixi shelter forests. The result shows that the inhibition effect of longicorn was better in January, which control effect was 77.18%. When longicorn was in pupal period in May, the inhibition effect of Batocera horsfieldi was 20%. Because longicorn was in larval phase in January and the emergence of the insect in May.Inhibition effect of different concentration to one tree species was also different. Concentration of 5% was significantly higher than 2% concentration. In sum, the balance of nature in coastal shelter forests is broken which makes the pests lack of insect enemies.
