Corn is the world's largest food crop, the third largest food crop in China, which cultivation and production ranks first in autumn grain crops. Corn borer is a worldwide pest. In China ,Ostrinia furnacalis ( Guenee) was the dominant species distributed widely , which occurred area and brought big loss to corn production was the largest among other corn diseases and insect pests .This paper was done in Harbin, aimed at the characteristics of feeding complex, widely distributed, occurring more generation, high reproduction rate, a greater impact of environmental factors of the Ostrinia furnacalis , employed a combination methods of artificial feeding in laboratory and survey of natural occurrence rate in field , from biological and ecological aspects systematically investigated the feeding behavior, nesting habits, damage yield losses of Ostrinia urnacalis to find out the relationship of the generations of Ostrinia furnacalis in Harbin between natural conditions, larvae overwintering base, different maize varieties and species of different cultivation methods , probed the regulation of the occourance, selected types of maize varieties resistant to Ostrinia furnacalis , therefore, developed the control methods and can provide a good way to build a synthesized methods to control Ostrinia furnacalis .The main results were as follows:1, The temperature and humidity conditions were closely related with wintering larvae of Ostrinia furnacalis . High humidity was conducive to the normal mating and spawning adults by Indoor research on wintering larvae of Ostrinia furnacalis ( Guenee) .The conditions of temperature at (26±1)℃, relative humidity to (70±10)%, the environmental photoperiod to 16L/8D was most conducive to survival of mature corn borer and pupate. Larvae hatch from eggs to adult requires a total 628 degrees accumulated temperature and at the average indoor temperature of 25℃takes about 40 days.2, Occurrence of theOstrinia furnacalis in Harbin was related with the following factors. Harbin accumulated temperature conditions were suitable for winter corn borer growth and development of mature larvae which had a higher incidence ; humidity was a key factor effected the development of overwintering larvae . Analysis the data of10 insect-resistant maize varieties showed that the rate of species differences between the corn borer damage was extremely significant. Pest rate and sugar content of corn stalk stems were significantly positively related , the number of borer of insects increased when the sugar content of corn passed 5% .3, The best way to control . Ostrinia furnacalis was the use of Bt-gene to training resistant varieties. In this study, pollen tube pathway method was utilized to introduce the Bt toxin protein gene into No. 1 stick maize in order to obtain the foreign gene resistant corn borer and eight cross combinations corn were obtained after two years test, the results of analysis of variance showed that treatment difference was significant.4, The common way to control corn borer was chemical pesticides . The plot experiments were selected by the organic phosphorus, microbial type, a total of three categories of pyrethroid insecticides of four varieties, analysis of variance significant controlling effect on human and environmental pollution, high efficiency and low toxicity.
