For selecting the suited formula of container seedling and providing the reference of cultivating good quality seedling, the effects of different substrates (constituent:peat soil, perlite, husks, wood chips, animal manure and compound fertilizer) on one-year and two-years old container seedlings of 7 plantation trees species applied generally in Ningbo(Pinus elliottii, Cyclobalanopsis glauca, Castanopsis sclerophylla,Schima superba,Myrica rubra,PhotiniaƗfrasery,Sepindus mukorossi) were studied.10 types of substrate formulas were tested by one-year old seedling (Al as CK) and 7 types tested by two-years old seedling (B1 as CK). A single treatment had 3 repeats and a repeat used 30 seedlings. Height and ground diameter were measured periodically.Results of substrate formulas to showed different between seedling age and tree species. To one-year age seedlings of Pinus elliottii, A3 treatment was the optimal substrate formula, A2 and A4 comparatively suitable, A1 (CK), A5 and A10 basically suitable; to one-year age seedlings of Cyclobalanopsis glauca, A1 (CK) treatment was the optimal substrate formula, A4 comparatively suitable, A2 and A3 basically suitable to one-year age seedlings of Castanopsis sclerophylla, A2 and A3 treatments were the optimal substrate formulas, A1 (CK) comparatively suitable, A4 and A5 basically suitable; to one-year age seedlings of Schima superba, A2 and A3 treatments were the optimal substrate formulas, A1 (CK) comparatively suitable, A5 basically suitable; to one-year age seedlings of Myrica rubra, A2 and A3 treatments were the optimal substrate formulas, A1 (CK) comparatively suitable, A4 basically suitable; to one-year age seedlings of Photiniaxfrasery, A2 and A3 treatments were the comparatively suitable formulas.As a whole, A2 and A3 substrate formulas were better.To two-years age seedlings of Pinus elliottii, B3 and B7 treatment were the optimal substrate formulas, B1 (CK) comparatively suitable, B4,B5 and B6 basically suitable; to two-years age seedlings of Castanopsis sclerophylla, B3 treatment was the optimal substrate formula, B2 comparatively suitable, B1(CK) and B7 basically suitable; to two-years age seedlings of Schima superba, B5 and B7 treatments were the optimal substrate formulas, B3 comparatively suitable, B1 (CK), B2, B4,B6 basically suitable; to two-years age seedlings of Myrica rubra, B3 treatments were the optimal substrate formulas, B5 comparatively suitable, B1 (CK), B4, B7 basically suitable; to two-years age seedlings of Sepindus mukorossi, B3 and B4 treatments were the comparatively suitable formulas, B2 comparatively suitable, B1 (CK) and F basically suitable.As a whole, B3 substrate formula was better.
