Ilex is an important genus world-wide. East China is the main resource distribution region of Ilex plant species in China. Many Ilex plant species have high value for ornamental plantation with deep green leaf and red fruit and are with great exploitation potential though been not used universal. With ornamental plantation as the purpose, this study introduced and collected Ilex species and variety resources, studied the adaptability of Ilex species resources in Ningbo region, cutting propagation on Ilex integra and grafting technique on series varieties of Ilex aquifolium. Results as follows:1,36 Ilex plant species and varieties were imported and collected and morphological feafures, phenophase, the annual growth rhythm, anatomical characteristics of seeds and reproductive characteristics were observated. Ilex plant species were evaluated using resistance and ornamental characteristics as indexs and were divided into three levels:A-key recommended species and varieties; B-general recommended species and varieties; C-relatively difficult recommended species and varieties. Among these,22 species or varieties including IlexĂ—altaclerensis belonged to A.2,Cuttage propagation techniques on Ilex integra was studied. It was found that all 4 kinds of growth hormone NAA,IAA,IBA,GGR6 can promote radication and the effect NAA for induction of roots was the most significant. Using some active component DMSO and antioxidant such as Vc,PVP could promote rooting rate and reached to 80%. Treatment method is immersion for 0.5h with200mg/L NAA+l%DMSO+500mg/LVc or 200mg/LNAA+1%DMSO+1000mg/LPVP. Early spring and early autumn is the most suitable cutting time and substrate formula of peat:vermiculite:perlite is 3:5:2 and 4:2:4.3,Graft technique on series varieties of Ilex aquifolium.was studied. Cut-grafting and side grafting were the best graft method with the survival rate at 90%. la of basal and medi-branches were suitable cion. Ilex cornuta was the best stock and thick and strong cion and stock were the best.This study provided important consultant for the application in garden, sloved the technical barrier of asexual reproduction of some Ilex pant species and provided scientific data for its application.
