Ornamental Characteristics Of The Plants And Their Application In Plant Landscape Of West Lake Green Space In Hangzhou

Ornamental plants are becoming more and more important in the city landscape construction; the importance of their ornamental characteristics has become increasingly taken seriously by people. But now the research related ornamental characteristics of garden plant was still stayed theory, according to the situation, this study tries to explore the internal relationship between the ornamental characteristics, the importance in plant landscape, and how to play a good role in plant landscape from case studies。On the basis of documental materials, combining with on-the-spot investigation and reflection from the visitors, I determined to select 9 plants space, total of 36 plant communities as the main research object. First, according to the spatial characteristics of each community, I divide them into road space, plant space, architectural and sketch space, water system; and then, started to On-the-spot investigation. According to the survey, I classified and summarized the plants sued in the green of West Lake in Hangzhou by the ornamental characteristics and their season. Analyzed the ornamental characteristics showing in each plants community, and calculated the significance in landscape performance to the community, and then make a summary.Based on system analysis and summarization, the author in this study about the ornamental plants and their characteristics of the West Lake Park put forward the following conclusions:(1) The most common ornamental characteristics used in landscape were flower shape and color, leafshape and color, and the wholl posture, simple sense, texture, etc. however, the branches, fruit, smell were usually less used in landscape independent.(2) The relationship between the ornamental characteristics were dependence, restrict and timing. The relationships in common determine the overall landscape.(3) The author putted forward the application points that can make the ornamental characteristics play a good role in the landscape. We can follow the principles that ornamental features prominent, well arranged, position reasonable, contrast degree and transition orderly to design an outstanding plant landscape.
