A typical region, Ruyang region of Nanling National Nature Reserve is regarded as the study area in this paper. The forest landscape classification map is successfully obtained using SPOT-5 high-resolution RS image and GPS data from field survey. It makes the foundation of multilevel forest landscape pattern analyses with 1:50000 topographic maps and digital terrain model by means of integrated theory and technology managements such as landscape ecology principle, GIS spatial analysis, three-dimensional modeling, graph theory, complex network theory, etc. These analysis results perform as preconditions, therewith the"landscape partition - portfolio - mosaic system - new partition"alternative future planning concept is been infused into forest landscape ecology planning discussion.The study includes two parts: forest landscape pattern analysis and landscape ecological alternative planning discussion.(1) Forest landscape pattern analysis is carried through mainly from three entry points: how the self attributes of landscape patches impact on landscape pattern, how terrain factors impact on the landscape pattern and how landscape organizing structure impact on landscape pattern. Landscape indices analysis, spatial landscape distribution direction analysis upon DEM elements and spatial network analysis upon three-dimensional landscape ecological network scenarios mainly take Fragstats landscape index method, terrain factor overlay method, three-dimensional simulation, Pajek network analytical method and other methods, from each"internal"and"external"and"relationship"viewpoints, which answer the purpose to evaluate and comprehend regional forest landscape pattern completely and comprehensively without redundancy.Results of this section show: Regional forest landscape pattern is superior. Evergreen broad-leaved forest landscape accommodates conifer forest, mixed forest and other varied forest landscapes as a landscape matrix. Various landscape patches tend to separate equality with moderate size, spontaneous shape and low degree of fragmentation. Ecological flow is at standard strong level while eco-loop connectivity is high quality. Ecological exchange responsively rate between core patches is high. Minor human disturbances tend to occur at conflicting landscape marginal spaces. But complex landform and hypsography become the regional ecological obstructive factors.(2) The landscape ecological alternative tentative planning plan sets four starting points: protecting endangered rare species, maintaining forest landscape ecological network stability, ecological reconstruction and restoration after disasters, public forest welfares and ecological functions. Whereas road traffic and forest tourism work as two impact factors. The"pastry"partition process for landscape suitability and"patch - corridor– matrix"ecological pattern optimization method are Integrated to found corresponding partition maps. According to certain organizing principles, a forest landscape alternative future mosaic system eventually forms. One kind of program priority-ranked for forest landscape safeguard, which sets the whole landscape into 10 categories of landscape partition, has been put forward for an example of applying the mosaic system.Results of this section show: The forest landscape alternative future mosaic system is a solution database that contains about 372 component modules. In an application case, it manages to improve habitats, inhibit landscape fragmentation and maintain forest landscapes and ecological processes in the highest measure. In brief, the alternative solution planning system is propitious to both ecological landscape organization and ecological landscape optimization. It plays an important role in decision-making process while improves economic efficiency and implementary feasibility for landscape ecological planning.
