Knowledge representation is an important issue in knowledge engineering, the traditional methods for knowledge resources representation lack of semantic annotation,so that knowledge search mostly base on keyword matching. The retrieval system can not analysis and deal with the implied information which is related to the keyword, resulting in a single function of knowledge retrieval and limited range. How to make the machine understand and process the semantic information contained in the resources,to facilitate users to find and use such knowledge,is a major challenges faced by the knowledge representation area.Ontology knowledge is a explicit specification of shared knowledge concept, can use a clear way to describe the knowledge of specific areas, and describe the semantic relations between the concept by using some semantic annotation.By the way of semantic reference, some potentially userful knowledge can be found. This paper has a study on ontology theory and knowledge representation methods, discusses the application of ontology theory in area of fruit disease and pest knowledge, then constructs an ontological knowledge base which contains disease and pest information of pear, apple and grapes. The author also studies the similarity matching methods of ontology concept, accompanied by research on c reasoning mechanism. At last ,build a smart ontology-based system which can make a query for the knowledge of fruit disease or pest. The system has a function of reasoning and query, making a discovery of tacit knowledge in which contains some certain semantic information. In a certain sense, this work enriches the intelligent research of knowledge management for the area of fruit tree disease or pest.
