With the international flower market developing, lily as fresh cut flower is getting more and more popular and important in new cut flower production. For fragrance, their flamboyant and sweetly scented blooms, lilies win hands down. The popularity of hybrid lilies as cut flowers is increasing in china. Common problems of cut lilies quality such as leaf yellowing, failure of small buds to open and quick petal fading is becoming serious with the increasing cut lily industry. These problems may occur because of continuous cropping obstacles and deterioration of physicochemical property etc. lily needs a proper soil pH range of 5.5-6.5 for growth well. When the soil pH value is becoming increasing in the Lingyuan city of western Liaoning province, the lilies grown in the greenhouse have been affected for uptake of mineral elements. Lily growth abnormalities with the indictor or symptom of essential nutrient deficiencies and unfavorable growing conditions were appearing. Such as poor physical soil characteristics, improper soil pH, and saline or sodic soil may be the reason for the heavy economic losses of the lily grower. In the study, the greenhouse planting and indoor analysis methods were employed to reveal effect of soil conditioner on nutrient utilization and quality for lily (oriental hybrids) cut flowers. The effect of the soil conditioner on the leaf SPAD value and the soil characteristics was also investigated. The results were as follows:The height, the bud length, the flag leaf width, the leaf amounts and the perimeter for the second generation bulb of the oriental hybrid lily(Siberia) was increased by the single use of the soil conditioner and the N,P, K plus 100kg soil conditioner treatments during the experiment period, respectively. The dry matter accumulation for oriental hybrid lily was increased by the application of the soil conditioner. And the biomass accumulation is occurring in the late growing stage. The uptakes of the nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium by the lily also were increased by the application of the soil conditioner. In the whole period of the growing for lily, the nitrogen and potassium is uptakes bigly. The requirement of nitrogen and potassium for lily is large and the phosphorus is small. The ratio of N, P2O5 and K2O for lily is 1:1:2.7in the leaf-expansion stage, is 1:0.5:2.3 in the budding period, is 1:0.34:2.27 in the flower stalk formation period and is 1:0.36:2 in the blooming stage. Compared with zero-fertilizer treatment, the chlorophyll meter values (SPAD values) are increased, and the soil pH value is decreased by the use of soil conditioner. respectively.
