The author research the bambusa chungii which in Yiyang, inquire these bambusa chungii's biological characteristics and physiology characteristic's difference and give some advises for landscape application..The research improvements are as follows:1.Biological characteristics(1) The bambusa chungii from different clumps have the different growth vigor, bambusa chungii of clump7,clump6and clump5the bambusa chungii are much more flourish than that of clump1and clump2. Compared with these clump above, the bambusa chungii's characteristics is moderate in clump3and clump4. The average height is7.6-11.8m and average DBH is4.31-6.43cm.(2) Bambusa chungii leaf length range from16-22cm, the width range from2-3cm. The length and width have very significant correlation. Clump1has the biggest ration of fresh weight and the clump is high and large. Clump5has the lowest ration of fresh weight and the clumps are short and small. Age characteristics are as follow:one year18.3%-20.4%, two year18.6%-22.1%, three year18.3%-20.5%, four and over41%-46%.Shoot emergence period is no big difference. The first shoot emergence is the early of June and the last shoot emergence is late of October and last for130d.2.Physiological characteristics(1) The percentage of bamboo wood chemical composition contents are as follows:ashy substance content1.31%-1.62%, benzene-alcohol extractive content7.23%-7.93%,1%sodium hydroxide extract content22.2%-24.9%, hot water extract content6.31%-7.23%, lignin conten15.1%-20.51%t, pentose content20.01%-20.92%and cellulose content21.1%-26.6%. Except lignin, all of the chemical composition contents percentage is under5%and the rest kinds of chemical compositions content change are small. Those which have the long time lighting, enough nutrient and water have more organic compounds. The density, compression strength parallel to grain, compression strength perpendicular to grain and tensile strength parallel to grain positively correlated with each other. And it has the correlation with the chemical compositions indexes, but that is not very significant.(2) The bambusa chungii leaves chlorophyll and free amino acid content are highest in the summer but lowest in winter. The highest content of leaves chlorophyll is5.51mg/g and lowest is4.81mg/g. The highest content of free amino acid is4.67(mg·FW·(100g)-1)and lowest is3.48(mg·FW·(100g)-1). The highest content of leaves chlorophyll appears one mouth ahead of time than the highest content of free amino acid appear.3. Landscape applicationBambusa chungii is a good landscape materials and can be used for main features or subordinate plants. The main cropping patterns in landscape are clump planting, row planting, corner-sik et. All has its own unique characteristics.
