Chronic glomerulonephritis (Chronic nephritis for short), is a generalterm of primary glomerular diseases. In this condition, Chinese traditional medicine reflects its advantages. On the one hand, it's able to comprehensively regulate body balance, recover normal immune, prevent the diseases aggravation, and reduce its recurrence; on the other hand, it can decrease the side reaction of glucocorticoids and immunosuppressive agents, which could do harm to health. Therefore, many more researchers realize its value in the treatment of chronic nephritis.Based on the conservative medical treatment and previous thoughts, this research tries to find the new viewpoints of treatment for chronic nephritis. Wind-pathogen is the entry point. By exploring the relationship between wind and kidney, renal diseases, "wind injured kidney" is considered as one of the most important pathogenesis. Chronic nephritis is Primary Asthenia-Secondary Sthenia Syndrome. It means that its pathogenesis is the deficiency in the Root and excess in the Branch. The deficiency includes lung, spleen, and kidney deficiency; among them, the kidney deficiency is the most important one. The excessive pathogenic factors are wind, which takes along cold, dampness and damp-heat sometime. The TCM pathogenesis of chronic nephritis can be summarized as the wind injured leads to the deficiency of kidney. Wind-pathogen (including external-wind and internal-wind)plays an important part in chronic nephritis. Because of above, the research studies treatment to chronic nephritis based on the theory of wind. The principle is that external-wind should be expelled and internal-wind be calmed. According to the clinical observation, it determines the indication of this treatment. It also analysis clinical case records to show the herbal prescription in common use, and discusses the action mechanism and use principles. The research result is that it can be clinical used because this treatment has notable curative effect and a certain preventive action.
