Objective:Nasal polyps is a chronic inflammatory disease of the sinonasal mucosa, which has high incidence and strong recurrent. Currently, the pathogenesis of nasal polyps is not clear. The proposed etiological causes are infection, allergy and immunological disorders. Studies have demonstrated that inflammation is an important factor in Nasal polyps. So the infection has an important position in the pathogenesis of nasal polyps. The detailed etiological studies are not only to enlighten the pathophysiology, but may be necessary for thorough evaluation and precise management of the patient. Helicobacter pylori (HP), the most common etiological agent of chronic infection, is a mobile gram-negative,the environmental oxygen requirements of 5~8%. HP can cause gastritis, peptic ulcers, stomach cancer and also mucosa associated lymphoid tissue lymphomas. It generally colonizes in the mucuslayer of the human gastric mucosa. Some researchers suggested that Helicobacter pylori has been investigated in tonsils, adenoids and in the middle ears of patients with chronic otitis media.Recently, some reports have been published about high prevalence of HP in nasal polyposis(NP) and chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). Fungi is a micro-organisms that widely distributed in nature which virulence is weak, It is normal flora in the cavity can be found in the respiratory tract of healthy people without disease. But some fungi can cause disease under certain conditions. Recently, the Fungi is one of the factors of Chronic sinusitis on the pathogenic which more and more attention,Nasal polyps is the same. The research of Fungal disease is in-depth in international. There are also a related report.Fungi and Nasal polyps may have a certain relationship. In this experiment, we aimed to investigate the relationship between Helicobacter pylori and Nasal polyps and Fungi.Patients and Method:The experimental group,35 patients with nasal polyps in our hospital from March 2010 to December 2010.The control group,30 patients who have deviation of nasal septum and fracture of nasal bone without nasal polyps by CT. The two groups carried on fungal skin prick test and determination of inhaled allergens specific immunoglobulin E before surgery. The experimental group polyps samples were taken from middle meatus, The control group masal mucosa samples were taken from the lateral lamella of middle turbinate. The Rapid urease test and Immunohistochemical were used to detection the Helicobacter pylori of the two groups of samples. All datas are ananlyzed with statistics ananlysis by SPSS 17.0 ststistics software.Result:1. Rapid urease test:there were 3(8.6%)positive cases and 32(91.4%) negative cases in the Test group;there were 2(6.7%)positive cases and 28(93.3%) negative cases in the Control group. The Test group and the Control group were not statistically significant(Chi-square test,p=0.774).2. Immunohistochemical test:There were no positive cases in the Test group and control group. So,They were not statistically significant.3. Positive rates of allergic skin prick test compared by pearson chi-square:there were 6(17.1%)positive cases and 29(82.9%) negative cases in the Test group;there were 2(6.7%)positive cases and 28(93.3%) negative cases in the Control group. The Test group and the Control group were not statistically significant(Chi-square test,p 0.270).4. Positive rates of determination of inhaled allergens specific immunoglobulin E compared by pearson chi-square:there were 8(22.9%)positive cases and 27(77.1%) negative cases in the Test group;there were 3(30.0%)positive cases and 28(90.0%) negative cases in the Control group. The Test group and the Control group were not statistically significant(Chi-square test,p=0.168).Conclusions:Statistical analysis the datas of the age sex the Rapid urease test and Immunohistochemical test between the test group and control group were not statistically significant of Helicobacter pylori and Nasal polyps. In the nasal polyps can be detected fungi, though can not prove the direct relationship with fungi and nasal polyps, but the fungi in the pathogenesis of nasal polyps may play a role.
