Duchesnea india(Andr.)Focke, the whole plant of Duchesnea india (Andr.)Focke in Rosaceae, it is widely distributed in China. It has been used as folk medicine for treatment of alleviating fever, disintoxication, detumescence, cough, haematemesis, cancer, tumor and throat-swelling diseases. In preliminary investigations of this plant, at home and abroad on the pharmacological activity were more further research, some research results have been used in clinical, pharmacognosy, pharmacological. The research has made some progress, but compared with the large amount of chemical work, the DPPH free radicals scavenging activity and tyrosinase inhibitory activity is virtually no literature. In order to further understand the chemical properties and the chemical composition of Duchesnea india(Andr.)Focke, useing DPPH free radicals scavenging activity and tyrosinase inhibitory activity tests as a guide, the extracts of Duchesnea india(Andr.) Focke were isolated. Twenty-six compounds were isolated from Duchesnea india (Andr.)Focke, using Ultrasonic-Assisted Solvent Extraction Technology, liquid-liquid extraction, recrystallization, MCI microreticular resin normal or reverse phase column chromatography and HPLC. The stuctures of two compounds euscaphic acid and tomentic acid were established by MS, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) experiments. The results of DPPH free radicals scavenging activity test and tyrosinase inhibition activity test for the different fractions of the extracts showed that the fractions inhibited the DPPH radical and tyrosinase. The fractions 2.1.1-2.1.13 of the DPPH inhibition ratios were over 90%, and most of the fractions against tyrosinase were 90% or more. Six compounds showed scavenging activity toward DPPH radical with inhibition ratios of 33.75%,30.83%,33.59%,32.11%,26.90% and 33.75%. Six compounds also showed inhibitory activity toward tyrosinase with inhibition ratios of 39.85%,48.65%,46.34%,70.06%,62.85%and 44.86%. We will get compounds from other fractions, and provide experimental data for the further research of the Duchesnea india(Andr.)Focke.
