Chemical Constituents Of Duchesnea Indica Andr Focke

Duchesnea indica Andr Focke , the entire plant of Duchesnea indica Andr Focke in Rosaceae, had the effect on alleviating fever and disintoxication.The petroleum ether portion of EtOH extract of this plant showed antineoplastic activities in vitro. Few reports about chemical and active constituents of this plant can be found in literature. In order to understand its chemical constituents and find antineoplatic compounds, the chemical constituents of the 70% ethanol extract of Duchesnea indica Andr Focke were investigated. Twenty compounds were isolated by column chromatographic methods using silica gel, polyamide, Diaion HP-20, ODS and Sephadex LH-20. On the basis of chemical evidence and spectral analysis, the structures of fifteen compounds were elucidated as brevifolin carboxylic acid (1), methyl brevifolincarboxylate (2), brevifolin (3), acacetin -7-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl (1-6) - β - D - glucopyranoside (4), kaempferol - 3 - O -β - D - galactopyranoside (5), rutin (6), apigenin -6-C — β-D- glucopyranoside (7), isoquercitrin (8), hyperin (9),, kaempferol -3-O-[α — L- rhamnopyranosyl -(1→3) -α - L - rhamnopyranosyl - (1→6) -β - D - galactopyranoside (10), kaempferol -3-O - [ α - L - rhamnopyranosyl - (1→6) - β - D -galactopyranoside (11), ursolic acid (12), oleanolic acid (13), β-sitosterol (14), and (24R) - 6β - hydroxyl - 24 - ethyl - cholest - 4 - en - 3 - one (15). Among them, compound 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11,13 and 15 were isolated from this plant for the first time. Flavone glycosides hardly showed antineoplastic activies in vitro while triterpenes showed inhibitory activities against stomach cancer AGS cell lines in vitro.
