| [Objective] To investigate the expression and clinical significance of ataxia-telangiectasia mutanted protein in rectal carcinoma, to explore the mechanism of ATM in RC, and to provide new methods and certain theoretical basis for the treatment of rectal carcinoma.[Methods] Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expressions of ATM gene in 87 cases of rectal tumor, tumor-adjacent tissues and 40 cases of normal rectal tissue.[Results] The positive percentages of ATM gene in tumor tissues, tumor-adjacent tissues and normal rectal tissues were respectively 27.59% (24/87),12.64%(11/87)and 7.50%(3/40). The expression rate of ATM gene in rectal tumor tissues was significantly higher than that in normal rectal and tumor-adjacent tissues (P<0.05). The expressions of ATM gene were negatively correlated with the differentiation of SCC. There was no difference between tumor-adjacent and normal tissues in ATM expression (P=0.5791). No significant correlation was observed between ATM gene expression and patients'age and sex, the tumor stages, lymph node metastasis and other clinicopathological manifestations(P>0.05).[Conclusion] The abnormal expression of ATM gene in rectal carcinoma can become the new target spot which is hopeful for rectal cancer treats. |
