Objective:To describe the current situation of career expectation, and career decision-making self-efficacy (CDMSE) of nursing undergraduates; to investigate the influencing factors on career expectation and CDMSE of nursing undergraduates; and to clarify the relationship between the career expectation and the CDMSE.Methods:This is a correlative study of a non-experimental survey, using convenient sampling method to choose the nursing undergraduate students from three nursing schools as respondents.399 questionnaires out of 400 were reclaimed after rejection half-baked or all one option questionnaires. The analysis tool was consisted of three parts, involving general demographic characteristics form, career expectation scale, and the CDMSE scale. A software called SPSS13.0 was used for statistic analysis. Results:The total score of career expectation was 75.93±13.68, which indicated an aggressive career expectation of nursing undergraduates. A score,27.92±5.96 of prestigious status and stability factor represented the high requirements of nursing undergraduates on social status, company popularity, company scale, etc. The score of the intrinsic value factor was 29.62±5.89, which means all the students pay high attention to their own intrinsic value factor18.39±3.68, the score of extrinsic value factor indicated that the nursing undergraduates take future self-development seriously. The CDMSE was nearly normal distributed. The CDMSE can be divided into six dimensionalities, which are self evaluation(18.47±2.91), self concept(15.11±2.26), social support(14.11±2.31), career information gathering(13.55±2.69), academic record(9.89±2.14), and target setting(10.42±1.86). The highest score was self concept, followed by the self evaluation, target setting, social support, career information gathering, and academic record. The general career expectation was positive correlated to general CDMSE, self evaluation, self concept, social support, career information gathering, academic record and target setting; prestigious status and stability factor were positive correlated to the general CDMSE, self evaluation, self concept, social support, career information gathering, academic record and target setting; intrinsic value factor was positive correlated to general CDMSE, self evaluation, self concept, social support, career information gathering, academic record and target setting; the extrinsic value factor was positive correlative to general CDMSE, self evaluation, self concept, social support, career information gathering and academic record.Conclusion:(1)The score of the general career expectation represented that the career expectation of the nursing undergraduates were aggressive.(2)The career expectation was positive correlated to the CDMSE.(3)The career expectations of the nursing undergraduate students were related to grade, original area of the students, the only child, the first choice and how much they love the nursing program.(4)The career expectations of the nursing undergraduates were related to age, grade, and how much they love the nursing program.
