Objective:To evaluate the diagnostic value of C-12 multiple tumor markers (TMs) protein biochip detective system for esophageal carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma. Methods:The serum levels of 12 TMs(CA199, NSE, CEA, CA242, Ferritin,β-HCG, AFP, f-PSA, PSA, CA125, CA153 and HGH)were measured in 37 esophageal carcinoma patients, 26 cholangiocarcinoma patients, 52 benign disease patients of digestive system and 65 normal controls. The most relevant TM and the combinations of TMs to the improvement of diagnosis for esophageal carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma were determined, respectively. Results:⑴The positive rates and serum levels of CA199, CEA, Ferritin, AFP and CA125 in the esophageal carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma patients had significantly higher than those of the benign disease patients and normal controls(P<0.05~0.01). The positive rates and serum levels of the cholangiocarcinoma patients had significant difFerritinences compared with those of the benign disease patients and normal controls(P<0.05~0.01).⑵Among all the 12 TMs, CEA, Ferritin, CA125 and CA199 gave the toper positive rates of 40.5%, 32.4%, 27.0%, 24.3% for the esophageal carcinoma, respectively. Furthermore, CA199, CA242, CEA, CA125 and Ferritin gave the toper positve rates of 69.2%, 53.9%, 50.0%, 53.9%, 50.0% for the cholangio- carcinoma, respectively.⑶The best combination of 4 TMs (CEA+Ferritin+CA 199+CA 125) had not statistically significant difFerritinence as comparied with C-12 and yielded a sensitivity of 75.0%, a specificity of 90. 0% and a validiity of 82. 5%.⑷The best combination of 3 TMs (CA 199+CA 125+CEA) had not statistically significant difFerritinence as comparied with C-12 and yielded a sensitivity of 91. 7%, a specificity of 87. 5% and a validiity of 89. 6%. Conclusion:The multiple tumor markers protein biochip has a relatively high value in the diagnosis of esophageal carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma. The combinations of 4 TMs (CEA+Ferritin+CA199+CA125) for esophageal carcinoma and 3 TMs (CA199+CEA+CA125) for cholangiocarcinoma could replace 12 TMs of the multiple tumor markers protein biochip.
