Objective To evaluate the feasibility of Asthma Control Questionnaire(ACQ) and modified Asthma Control Questionnaire (ACQ6) in children asthma control. Methods We chose one hundred and two patients with paediatric asthma who were diagnosed by experts from paediatric clinic of The Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University Medical College. They all accepted pulmonary function test, which included percentage of the forced expiratory volume in the first second(FEV1) accounting to predicted value (FEV1%) and peak expiratory flow(PEF) accounting to predicted value (PEF%) individually and ACQ investigation. Meanwhile according to Global Initiative for Asthma, GINA guide asthma control grade at 2006 by expert. We assessed the control level of asthma children and divided them into three groups as complete control, part control and out of control. We adopted variance analysis to pulmonary function results of the three groups and the difference between ACQ and ACQ6. ACQ6 score at different FEV1% and PEF% was compared and its convergence and consistency between ACQ6 score and FEV1% as well as PEF% were analyzed according to FEV1% and PEF%. The correlation was analyzed between ACQ, ACQ6, FEV1%, PEF% and results of experts' evaluation to check their osculation extent. We used variance analysis inspection and spearman correlative coefficient inspection as statistic method. There was statistical sense when p less than 0.01.Results There was statistical sense when compared the difference of FEV1% and PEF% for the three group asthma children (F was 68.60,110.82,P<0.01).The pulmonary function result of group out of control was much lower than that of control group. The difference of three group's ACQ score and ACQ6 score was significant (F was 171.52,117.14,P<0.01).ACQ6 score at different group about FEV1%, PEF% all had statistical sense (F was 69.53,76.20,P<0.01). ACQ6 score and spearman of FEV1% correlative coefficient was -0.818 (P<0.01) and the correlative coefficient with spearman of PEF%was -0.862(P<0.01). The correlation between ACQ6 score and PEF% was closer than that with FEV1%. ACQ, ACQ6 score, FEV1%, PEF% with expert evaluated spearman correlative coefficient were separately as 0.931,0.915,-0.878,-0.882(P all<0.01).The correlation with expert evaluated results from high to low was ACQ>ACQ6>PEF%>FEV1%.Conclusion ACQ and ACQ6 show good ability to identify for different levels of asthma control children. ACQ can be used for evaluating asthma control of children. ACQ6 is worth spreading especial at basic hospital where lack pulmonary function test equipment.
