Objectives:1.To investigate the whole show feasibility of MR3D-FSPGR-IR sequence for facial nerve imaging by post-processing.2. To explore the anatomic characteristics of adult living facial nerve with3D-FSPGR-IR sequence.3.To evaluation the imaging differences for facial nerve between3D-FSPGR-IR and3D-F1ESTA sequences.Materials and Methods:40healthy volunteers undergone MRI3D FSPGR IR sequence of the facial nerve imaging were collected from1July14,2010to August1st,2011in the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical College, which was divided into two groups according to the gender, including18males, with mean age of32.3±7.0and22females, aged18-45years, with mean age of34.5±7.2.40cases performed3D-FIESTA sequence of the facial nerve imaging were collected from August2,2010to January3ed,2012in the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical College, including19males, aged22-55, with the mean age of37.4±6.2, and female in21cases, aged20-52, with the average age of35.5±3.9. The facial nerve was scan with GE1.5TMR and observed on conventional axial, sagittal, and coronal T1-weighted images (T1W1), T2-weighted images (T2WI), magnetization prepared fast gradient echo imaging (3D-FSPGR IR) and3D-Fast imaging employing steady-state acquisition (3D-FIESTA). When the images were sent to post-processing workstation, Required of each segment of the facial nerve full display an image, and measure the facial nerve length, diameter and the distance and around the neighboring structure, a comparative study of different genders, different side of the facial nerve measured values. And measured values of mean, standard deviation and confidence interval,at the same time comparative analysis3D-FSPGR-IR sequence and3D-FIESTA sequence of image quality.Results:1.40cases3D FSPGR IR could be used for the facial nerve imaging. And one level the whole visual indication of the facial nerve at the same time clearly show the brain tissue.2.3D FSPGR the IR sequence and3D-FIESTA sequence surface nerve imaging phase comparison, brain tissue and the facial nerve of each segment on the imaging quality of conduct comparative analysis. the facial nerve labyrinthine segment and tympanic segment and mastoid segment t values were-6.415and-5.049and-7.607, respectively, both P<0.05,3D FSPGR sequence of the IR image quality is superior to3D-FIESTA sequence.3. The distance between the3D FSPGR the IR sequence in vivo scanning of the facial nerve segment length, diameter, and the adjacent vital structures, and no significant difference related anatomical literature.4.Facial nerve segments and facial recess men and women compared to the length and diameter of a statistically significant difference, the male compared with female values, while the facial nerve between the distance of adjacent vital structures, no significant difference between the two.5.40cases of variation of80facial nerve, the total mutation rate of15%, which take shape abnormalities12.5%, out of shape abnormalities up to66.67%of the total variation.Conclusions:1.3D FSPGR sequence combined post-processing can visually whole intuitive display of the the entire facial nerve.2.3D FSPGR sequence compared to3D-FIESTA sequence can display fine anatomical structures of the human brain, and has a more important value in the FN imaging.3.3D FSPGR sequence combined with post-processing could measuring the facial nerve. Length and diameter, and the distance of the adjacent structure. 4.The length of the facial nerve in the gender differences, men compared to women longer, but with the distance of adjacent structures, there is no difference.5.Facial nerve mutations was15%, out of shape variation up to66.67%of the total variation.
