As one of the successful film genres during recent years, the influence of science fiction films (sci-fi films) on social culture has transformed from a simple entertainment topic into a cultural phenomenon that needs to study deeply. Utilizing the theory of folklore and film studies, this essay focuses the myth narrations as its study object, aiming to analyze and study the myth narrations in the sci-fi films. It comprehensively discusses the myth narrations including born myths, flooding myths, hero myths, deformation myths and savior image in the sci-fi films from the perspective of society, literature and psychological context. In order to provide better service for the creation of sci-fi films, this essay reveals the characteristics in the process of using mythological narrations, under the analysis of myth narrations in specific sci-fi films. This essay demonstrates that the sci-fi films are not only the combination of technology and arts, but also the extension of ancient myth narrations. The success of sci-fi films depend not only the technology but also the deep myth connotation. People can find the ancient myth prototypes almost in every influential sci-fi films. Through making full use of the mythological archetypes and mythological thinking, the sci-fi films increase the connotation and culture value, which in turn create a huge commercial value. At the same time, the myth narrations in sci-fi films have very important cultural functions. With surreal technique, the myth narrations solve the contradictions in reality, making people to seek a new value system in order to re-establish the relationship between man and nature, man and society as well as man and technology. The sci-fi films release human being's original fantasy and ease the fear of post-industrial era through reciting ancient myths. With a kind of brand-new way of transmission, the sci-fi films will make ancient myths in a new form in front of people, and let people know more primitive culture. People will pass the fairy tales from generation to generation. This essay also analyzes the reasons of lacking of sci-fi films, and puts forward countermeasures in using myth narrations. Therefore, based on the comparative study on the sci-fi films and myth narrations, this essay attempts to seek a common area in the field of mythology and film & TV studies, which can provide a new perspective for the study of mythology. Through the interpretation of the myth narrations in sci-fi films, this essay discovers the rules of using myth narrations, thus to provide a new way for the creation of sci-fi films. This essay is composed of four parts, which are the main body, the introduction, the conclusion and the references, a total of 45000 words.
