In the Chinese literary history, Yu Xin is considered as a literatus whose works reflect the prime of the Six Dynasties'literature. Half a century or more has witnessed great achievements of researches on Yu Xin and his works. However, research on his attitudes as a literatus still remains unaccomplished. Yu Xin worked as a literary attendent in both South Dynasty and North Dynasty. The blending of the southern and northern cultures contributes to his unique attitudes, that is, dimensional, multiplex and complex attitudes, which exerted a deep going influence on his later poems.On the basis of the former researches, the author of this thesis probs into Yu Xin's attitudes, discusses Yu Xin and his works simultaneously, while lays emphasis on the influence of his attitudes, thus trying to read Yu Xin completely.This thesis can be devided into three chapters. The first chapter is about the development of Yu Xin's attitudes and the causes. While analyzing the causes, the author tries to find the profound ones from the social environment, the social psycology and the traditional culture. The second chapter focuses on his later attitudes reflected from his poems, which are always mixtures of different affections. For example, longing for the motherland while caring about the payoffs, expecting to be reclusive while desiring to be ambitious, being ashamed to compromise while regreting for his own faults. The last chapter discusses the effects of Yu Xin's attitudes on his later works. His attutudes affects his way of thinking, enrichs the contents of his works and develops his creating forms.
