Franz Seraphicus Peter Schubert's four violin sonatas bear witness to the fact that the composer was keen on family concert in his youth. Although it is evident that these violin sonatas were just for self-amusement and were early exercises composed for music amateurs, they does not stifle the inborn noble characteristics of Lieder. A comparison of these sonatas and the Lieder that Schubert had been composing throughout his entire life suggested that they have many things in common in terms of composition techniques such as ornament type, accompaniment type, counterpoint thinking, modulation regulation, chromaticism harmony, duet form, melody, musical structure, and style of emotion expression. Therefore, its study showed that these sonatas have the tendencies of songs and that the sonatas and songs have very much in common especially in the expression of emotions of ariose melody. Efforts were then made to explore the underlying reasons for these similarities. The analysis and comparison demonstrated that the similarities in composition techniques derived from Schubert's background and interests, the demands of musical emotion performance, and that fact that he was an expert in composing instrumental works which had natures of songs. All these factors lead to the many similarities in the composition techniques of Schubert's violin sonatas and Lieder.
