The Artistic Characteristics And Teaching Themes Of Schumann's Song Cycle 'a Woman's Life And Love'

Schumann's song cycle "A Woman's Life and Love" is a typical representative of a vocal work with the unique theme features of emotion, aesthetic characteristics, and a complete and unified artistic structure. This study has selected this work in order to use it as a method of understanding Schumann's life, to provide an overview of his songwriting, an in-depth analysis behind the art that features in his works and hence to put forward personal views on the teaching and deductive reasoning of this work. This study is based on the analysis of the music score. The analysis is undertaken through a variety of methods, including literature review, music, audio-visual materials and concert experience. In addition, I have borrowed various other methods from the study of sociology, history, literature, art science and other disciplines.Schumann is considered a music poet of very romantic characteristics, and a firm practitioner of Emotion Aesthetics in the 19th century. "A Woman's Life and Love" was written at the peak of his art songs writing period unavoidably and obviously reflected a romantic theme feature, a variety of emotional features, and a tragic aesthetic characteristics.As its unique arts features, "A Woman's Life and Love" is one of the famous German art songs. In order to accurately express and reproduce the original themes in the song, the following methods are available:●Be faithful to the original in the vocal teaching,●Guide the students to consider the original framework,●Follow the principles of unity of authenticity and be creative in the vocal performance,●Follow the principles of unity of technique and artistic technique in the vocal performance. In this study, which is based on previous studies, I have made a further discussion and analysis which is focused on the arts features, teaching and performing of "A Woman's Life and Love", in order to achieve better results with the objects.
