The article put emphases on in-depth analysis on features of Chinese traditional wood-engraving sculpting, picture composition, lining, colors etc. In the aspect of sculpting, the folk artists often use an exaggerated manner to grasp the primary features of objects, by using extensive exaggeration, summarization and elimination. In picture composition, they focus more on plane constitution rather than picture field depth, to enhance the decorative aesthetic feeling of the picture by combination of figures and rhythms of lines and colors. In utilizing lining, the folk Spring Festival pictures use different kind of linings according to different themes and contents, to present different sculptures, textures and shapes, and at the same time the personal emotions of the artist is expressed as well. In applying colors, the folk Spring Festival picture artists has mastered the principles of using colors, whereby they can use colors in a very scientific way: first they emphasize the different emotions expressed by colors; and secondly they focus on the contrast of different colors, for example, the bright and dark colors, warm and cold colors, purity of colors and the areas different colors covers.And a viewpoint is raised in this thesis, that Chinese wood-engraving has been watching on the international trend, but not neglecting the treasures of traditional wood-engraving while absorbing the nutrition of art in other countries. What is traditional is also international, and artists should pay more attention to the principles and way of presentation of Chinese traditional wood-engraving art.By analyzing the artistic features of Chinese traditional wood-engraving art, this article presents several inspirations which Chinese traditional wood-engraving art brings to modern wood-engraving art. And it emphasizes that the sublime emotion and the creative idea of folk artists is a rare treasure, which is contained in the Chinese traditional wood-engraving Spring Festival Picture. It broadens the vision and mind of modern wood-engraving artists.
