Materialism was originally a philosophical concept, and now refers to the pursuit of material wealth tendency. It is the production of western industrial revolution, and has an important influence on China's consumer. Especially for the main force of social of college students who born in the period of "80", facing on the commodity piles of consumer society, they are whether consciously or not comparison with others about money, material and so on, it is not only affect social adaptation, but also effect on the interpersonal relationship. This is result in the students feel unhappy. Therefore this paper studies the relationship about college student's materialism values with social comparison and well-being, to understand the orientation of materialism value, and relationship of well-being, in order to eaplore the mechanism of social comparison, and provides the view for adjustment of happiness.This paper include three kind of researches, it is systematically studied college students's materialistic values, social comparison and well-being, which is about the current situation, characteristics, and the role of social comparison influence on the materialistic values and happiness. a) This part of research is the next study of the foundation; it puts forward to verificate the Gibbon's social orientation scale and Diener's well-being questionnaire. On the one hand we can enrich and develop social comparison dimension structure and tools of happiness research; on the other hand it is provide the foundation for next parts. b) This research through the quantitative study on population variable to investigate the influence on materialism, social comparison and happiness, it is will discuss specific dimensions about this factor. In addition, through the relationship of materialism and happiness, explore the mechanism of social comparison, in order to enrich and developthe related research. c) Last part uses the method of grounded theory to discuss Chinese college students's comparison of attitude, the tendency of social comparison, as well as the influence of happiness. Through the interview and analysis, we excavation the materialism values how to influenced happiness throught social comparison. This study focus on research's context, so as to achieve a specific research purposes. The main conclusions of three researches were as follows:(1) The revised social comparison scale has good reliability and stable structure.(2) The Chinese version of the revised Diener etc, life satisfaction scale has well reliability and validity, conform to the requirements of metrology.(3) The materialism values, social comparison and subject well-being have significant different on demographic variable.(4) There is significant correlation among materialism, social comparison and subject well-being materialistic values can predict individual happiness.(5) Social comparison plays the role of partial intermediary on materialistic values and happiness.(6) Qualitative research found that put the college students's view about slightly control of material as background; it is found that individual select different social comparison strategy according to the different interpersonal relationship category through the attribution of happiness.
