| Governor-general, is one of inseparable part of regional administrative institution, its establishment had vital impact on the local administration system. The Northern Governor-general of Ming dynasty was set up to resist the continually invasion from Mongolians power in 15th century, as the warfare had been intensified in those northern areas, emperor called'Shizong'had Northern Governor-general been set mostly in the border areas with Mongolian territories, which had formed a series of military net-work union. All these measures produced practical effects for resisting the invasion or bothering form Mongolian tribes from time to time. Besides the military action, some soft and amiable measure was taken too; for instance, open the'Border Market'as an access measure.The Northern Governor-general, originated from the temporary imperial envoy but later it had been developed as practical military officials of its administrative regional areas. The innate limits of royal regulation always prevented these officials from gaining a formal title, so this post was not commensurate with its real management effect, they only played the role unworthy of the proper commitment from the central government, but the change tract just proved the process of mutual control between the civil service and military service, while this character had three stages:the civil service were equal with military service; the civil service were superior to military service; and civil service controlled military service.So the establishment of Northern Governor in the Ming dynasty, it is not only a symbol of highly centralization but also to extend the administrative control to the border & minority tribes'inhabitant areas through this comprehensive official. Furthermore, the positive effect had also been brought from the setting up of this post, such as strengthening the political connection; economic enchantment; and culture communication in some ways; all these helped the union of Chinese nation in a certain degree. |
