| Chinese Xiehouyu(for歇后语,herein after abbreviated to XHY),as a particular sort of expressive mode the Han nationality,are created by laboring people during experience of their lives.Their concise construction,vivid language and jocular effect afford much food for thoughts,so they are often used in everyday communication,and used to express the feelings in literature by authors.XHYs are one of significant and essential parts in Chinese culture.Over thousands of years,XHYs have formed a perfect system.However,previous studies are mostly limited to the source of XHYs,content,classification,rhetoric and semantics and so on.Few studies are made from the perspective of pragmatics. In order to enrich the development of linguistics,the article makes a comprehensive research which focused the relationship between XHYs and context from the perspective of pragmatics with Verschueren's Linguistic Adaptation Theory.The aim of this article is to study the relationship of context and XHYS,and it can help us to communicate each other.At the same time,it can provide a brand-new vision for further study.This article is based on qualitative analysis of the corpus of Chinese natural.At first,it discussed the relative problems of XHYs,including the name of XHYs,the relationship between the two parts, classification and pragmatics functions of XHYs.Secondly,with Verschueren's Linguistic Adaptation and by the synthesis of the influence language,social,cultural and psychological factors have on linguistic choice of XHYs,the conclusion can be drawn that XHYs are actually the result as adaptation to interlocutors'communication context.At last,it mainly discussed the effect that various contents of communication context have on to the meanings of XHYs in daily talks.By means of discussing and studing,we can make better use of XHYs for daily communication and understanding the significance of XHYs.Meantime,it can help the foreigner to find out the cultural connotations of Chinese XHYs. |
