Language is an important part of human culture, the most important communication tool, and the foundation to learn other subjects and necessary skills for access to knowledge. Primary language education in compulsory education is very important basic subject. As the course of native language learning, primary language education bear the mission on the people's listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, playing a vital role in human life.Since 1978,the commencement of liberation, Mr. Lv Shuxiang criticized the"Chinese language education"as"little, slow, bad and wasteful". This criticism was never stopped. It concerned all the aspects of"Chinese language education"."Chinese language education"was questioned in the last 50 years. Why were there so many criticisms? This is a very complex issue, and people need to consider it.The first part of this article focuses on the changes of"Chinese language teaching material in primary schools"since the introduction of modern education system in the early of 20th century. In 2001, the Ministry of Education issued"Full-time Compulsory Education Chinese Curriculum Standard (experimental draft)". By the leading of this document, the composing of Chinese language teaching material is blooming.The second part focuses on the existing"Compulsory Education Curriculum Standard Experimental Textbook-Chinese Language"published by People's Education Press. According to study the differences in contents, questions and so on between the old version and new version, the writer will find out the advantages and disadvantages of the existing textbook which is guided by the"New Course Standards". This part also illustrates disadvantages about some articles in the new textbook according to the"Children Literature Theory"and present suggestions.The third part analyzes the phenomenon of adaption in the new textbook; summarizes the way on which the editors adapt the old version, and find out the shortcomings of this phenomenon. The fourth part takes the old version textbook during the period of Republic of China as an example to aim to find out the reasons that why the existing textbook is doubted widely. And try to figure out some ways to make a classic version of textbook, and aim to help for the build on the primary language teaching materials and practice teaching, so that it can play a better role in children's literature in the primary school Chinese textbooks.There is no doubt that the creation of"Chinese language textbook for primary schools"is very important. Whether the ministry of education can achieve this goal only on the editors' insisting on the"children's literature theory", the spirits of"knowledgeable,useful and appreciative",what is expected by students, teachers,parents and society for a long time.
