This thesis is based on the qualitative research made by Gao Yihong which is about productive bilingualism. The quantitative research has adopted questionnaire to investigate the SLL's(the second language learner) linguistic competence, sociolcultural competence and the formation of their personality during the process of the target language learning. The researching samples are selected from the English majors of both juniors and sophomores in an independent college. The combination of quantitative research and qualitatitive research has concluded that the productive bilingualism also exists among the English majors of the independent college.While the quantitative research is lack of an in-depth investigation to the existence of productive bilingualism, this thesis has also adopted qualitative research. The main instrument is the open interview with 10 selected students and 10 teachers respectively.The result of the qualitative research is that the existence of productive bilingualism in the English majors of independent college, however this existence is lack of persistence, there is still a long way to go to achieve the general productiveness in the independent college. The teacher should focus more on the cultivation of communicative competence and critical competence during the process of teaching; the purpose is to improve the students' bilingual cultural identity and the mutual understanding of the two languages. Finally the L2 learners could achieve the self-actualization after the learning of target language.
