Mainstream Films, a special variety of film in China, have been in transformation since the beginning of the 90s in 20th century. These days, the survival and development of this type of film have been one of the most important problems for the State Administration of Radio Film and Television in China.Although the survival and development of Chinese Mainstream Films are always in a hard way, since the 90s in 20th century, many Mainstream Films, such as Ceremony for State Founding Declaration, The Days Without Lei Feng, Zhang Side, The Knot, The Founding of a Republic, have been huge box-office success in Chinese film market. However, more Mainstream Films in China are not as lucky as them. It has been reported that most Chinese Mainstream Films have been in difficulties in many fields of film market, for example, financing, marketing, the selection of time slots, etc.Therefore, this article tries to analyze its background, i.e. political environment, film market system in China, so as to design a sensible plan for the survival and development of Chinese Mainstream Films. The construction of Chinese Mainstream Films market with a virtuous circle, the selection of time slots, financing, and the marketing for Mainstream Films in small cities in China are the focus of these suggestions.
