Chinese folk song plays a vital role in the big family of the long-history and rich traditional Chinese culture. With the development of several thousands of years, various styles exist for folk song singing (namely national singing or Chinese vocal art). At present, national singing mainly refers to the"academic folk singing"created by Professor Jin Tielin, which dominates Chinese national vocal art. The academic school contributes greatly to Chinese national vocal art by adopting many vocal technique of"bel canto"to reform Chinese tradional singing art. However, with the rapid popularization of this academic vocal art, its monotony in singing style is becoming more and more obvious, which is rigorously criticized by music scholars. Under such background, pristine folk song and its singing art sprang with natural, pure and fresh style and deeply impressed numerous audiences. This thesis focuses on the research of realations between the academic art and the pristine art for Chinese folk singing. Based on detailed elaboration of the artistic characters of these two kinds of folk song singing art, their relationship is carefully studied: it is a typical dialectic relationship; although they are very different in music concepts and vocal techniques, but they are dependent on each other and constitute two complementary sides of an entity. Neither the academic singing art nor the pristine singing art is perfect, and they should give up their own prejudice and study from each other to absorb extra musical nutriment. Chinese national vocal art is expected to be turned form the nowaday unitary system to an open, plural system.
