The main members of Shu-Han State, are very different with those of Cao Wei and Sun Wu. The core staff of the Cao Wei regime which led by Caocao and Caopi, involves the members of Cao clan and Xiahou clan such as Cao Ren, Cao Hong, Cao Zhang, Cao Zhen, Cao Xiu, Xiahou Dun, Xiahou Yuan, Xiahou Shang and so on.The other members, whose surnames are not Cao, come from all corners of the country. They cannot form any regional gangs. Accordingly, most of the key members of ths Sun Wu regime are from the southeast corner of the land, which draw together gradually after experiencing three generations of the Sun clan. They cannot form a regional gang forces. However, Liu Bei went through ups and downs. At first,he tossed about different dukes. After discussed with Zhuge Liang,he took over Jingzhou as his base area, and then occupied Xichuan as an foundation. Tht key members of the Liu regime, except the meritorious statesmen who accompanied Liu Bei to build up the regime, are mostly from Jingzhou and Yizhou. They form two regional groups. From the point of geopolitical view, because of Jingzhou's special location of, it gathered celebrities from the Central Plains as a refuge. They have open mind and a very positive attitude to make contributions to the society. Most members of the Jingzhou group are not willing to lose their homeland and waste talents and ability silently. The arrival of Liu Bei inspired their political enthusiasm. Before Liu Bei arrived in Shu, they have already made major contributions to the establishment of Shu Han regime. While Liu treat Jingzhou as the base area,Jingzhou group obtained all favorable factors, and reach the peak of its political development. After Liu Bei arriving in Shu, Jingxiang area become a battlefield facing agression from all sides. Liu moved the political center from Jingzhou to Yizhou. Jingzhou group therefore lost long-established foundation. But then Jingzhou group had many talents. Zhuge Liang, Pang Tong and the other celebrities are the core members of Shu Han regime.Yizhou is based on Sichuan Basin. It is relatively isolated.Yizhoup People are conservative. Most members of the Yizhou Group are powerful landowners in the region. Some of the group came from Jing or Chu area, yet their basic benefits are similar with that of the indigene in Ba and Shu area.Yizhou Group has a strong exclusivity. They ushered in the regime of Liu Bei who ruled Shu with severer policy instead of Liu Zhang who ruled Shu with rather relaxed policy. Thus, they tried their best to protect their own political and economic benefits.Jingzhou and Yizhou groups are controlled properly when Liu Bei is alive. Two groups exert their talents and duties. Hence, Shu Han regime is rather strong and stable. However, the situation that Jingzhou is taken over by Sun Wu state and the army of Shu regime is defeated at Yiling made Jingzhou Group lost theie foudation and almost collapsed. Before Liu Bei's death, contradictions in the Shu Han State has begun to flare up.The opposition of Jingzhou group and Yizhou group is very obviously. But Zhuge Liang's governing strategy is rather subtle and he promoted the members of Yizhou Group, these measures eased the contradictions. During this period, Jingzhou Group's political status is higher than Yizhou Group. Yizhou Group is gradually strengthening, while Jingzhou Group is gradually declining. It is inevitable. In the last period, the political status of Yizhou group has exceeded Jingzhou group entirely. The leader of Jingzhou and Yizhou group, Jiang Wan and Fei Yi,cannot achieve the standard of statesmanship and force like Zhu geliang's. The increasingly intensely fighting between groups makes the regime gradually decline. To the end of Shu Han, the claims of Yizhou group become the main foreign policy, which cause to destroy the country. The perish of Shu Han is an inevitable trend. Finally, Yizhou group fulfills their political goal. Jingzhou group is completely disintegrated. The conflict of political objectives between Yizhou group and Jingzhou group is obvious. However, due to the supremacy of national interests, two big groups still can work together and team up to combat with the enemy when they all are confronting with the foreign enemies. This is reflected through several major wars and political crises. When the main contradiction is not the foreign enemy, two groups gradually intensify the contradictions and even irreconcilable. Under Shu-Han state, the core leadership for generations including Liu Bei, Zhuge Liang, Jiang Wan and Fei Yi, have made painstaking efforts to balance the two groups. The status of Jingzhou group in Shu Han state, declines with a parabolic trend for the critical turning point of the lost of Jingzhou. But Yizhou group raise up later instead. Eventually, completely overwhelming the Jingzhou group, Yizhou group betrays Shu Han state and realize the autonomy in the Shu area.To sum up, the rising and falling of the influence of Jingzhou group and Yizhou group in the Shu Han state reveals that monarchical power and local great families and regional forces are always restricting mutually.
