So is it the same with the rhymes in Lan Mao's poetry, who was a phonologist and poet back in his day.We can always recognize the variant pronunciations in Yunnan dialects today, which are the consistent in Yun Lue Yi Tong. However, all we can say here is some of the YUNNAN phonetics/sounds partially keep the staged characteristics of YUAN-MING Phonetics, besides, Yun Lue Yi Tong by Lan Mao is the right book to record those dialects and Phonetics. Hence, although such consistency can exist, it can not hold water that we simply provide Yun Lue Yi Tong by Lan Mao as proof of Yunnan dialects!From the analysis of Yun Lue Yi Tong by Lan Mao and his poetry, these instances all indicate that Yun Lue Yi Tong by Lan Mao, out of question, was a valuable work for the then promotion of standard Chinese language.
