The Tang Former Mainland Chinese Literature In Yunnan Theme

As an indispensable part of Chinese territory, Yunnan has closely linked to the central plains of China since ancient times. By taking the period before the Tang (mainly Han and Jin Dynasties) as a watershed time, this thesis explores the literature types and influences of Yunnan at that time. As one of the frontier literatures, Yunnan played a unique role in many literary themes appeared before Tang Dynasty. It is the fruit of communications between different nationalities and different culture. Literatures of Yunnan theme are abundant in social and cultural connotations, which functions not only as a means to help people understand China Yunnan and reflect people's new literary aesthetic, but also provides plenty of writing materials for future generations.This thesis is divided into four parts to analyze the topic. The first part is to classify literary themes of Yunnan before the Tang Dynasty into historical events, heroic deeds, geographical and natural history and myths and legends according to their themes. The historical and literary significance reflected by them are explored. The second part sorts out the sources of subjects of literary themes of Yunnan from different angles. Conclusions reveal that cultural communications between different areas broaden literary people's horizon, which is a breakthrough for their knowledge structure and stereotyped thinking. By utilizing Chinese literary works, the third part discusses "Dynamic Yunnan" in the eyes of scholars from central plains of China. That is their attitude towards the then Yunnan, which can reflect the status of Yunnan theme literatures in Chinese literatures. The fourth part draws conclusions, gives insights and reveals the influences of Yunnan theme literatures on Chinese literary works before Tang Dynasty. It discusses the influences of Yunnan theme literatures and the role it plays in the Chinese literary works before Tang Dynasty from the following four aspects: Yunnan them literatures can broaden litterateurs' horizon, enrich contents of literary texts, enhance the artistic expressions of literatures and strengthen people's understanding of the frontier of Yunnan.
