Religion, as a kind of social ideology which reflects social existence, is an important part of human culture. The typical form of religious expression is faith, a series of faith-behavior can intuitively reflect people's attitude towards faith. The important part of comparative study of religion is about whether faith can properly function or not. And observation and comparison of the behavior of belief is the core part of comparative study of religious belief.In northwestern Yunnan, Tibetan Buddhism is not only the Tibetan people's main faith, part of the Naxi, Lisu, Pumi people also believe in Tibetan Buddhism. Because the different historical and cultural traditions of various nationalities, their way of believing in Tibetan Buddhism is different, and Tibetan Buddhism itself in different social and cultural environment also presents different characteristics.In this paper, the research objects are Laiyuan temple community and Dharma Temple community in Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. Basing on field survey data and literature, the author has made a comparative analysis of the similarities and differences of Tibetan, Naxi, Lisu people's Tibetan Buddhism belief in these two communities by mainly examining from temple monks, Living Buddha and Eminent monks, the community believers, and then the author has analyzed the reason of causing these similarities and differences. The author is of the opinion that the reason is the historical and political relationship, economic types, national identity, and the development of religion itself in this area. Then the author goes on to discuss religious choice of all ethnic groups, adaptive changing of religion, the social function of religion, and what multi-religious structures mean to national unity and social harmony.
