| The exchange is constantly explored of Eastern tradition and Western fashion in the field of modern decorative fabrics, which shows an "east west" trend, conveying to the world the charm of the Orient and that it may have a huge market potential.Miao batik in Guizhou Province, as a unique tradition of hand-dyeing technique of Miao ethnic minority in southwest China, represents the Miao people's emotions and values. The cultural backgrounds, historical forms, style types, manufacturing processes and development status of Miao batik in Guizhou Province were analyzed and summarized in this work. The aesthetic taste, based on the Miao woman's unique way of thinking, paid more attention to the emotional needs, aesthetic features and cultural connotations behind Miao batik. The design elements were deeply excavated and rationally analyzed through plenty of historical materials and documentary photos, attempting to research Miao batik on the basis of its application in decorative fabrics. The design elements of modern decorative fabrics, such as rich-emotion shape, natural colors, eco-materials and a variety of manufacturing crafts, were used. This study will make their design not only consistent with oriental aesthetic taste but also follow fashional trends, creating more diversified package of decorative fabric products to meet the various aesthetic and practical demands from a variety of consumer groups.To some extent, the application of Miao batik in designing modern decorative fabrics is not only a heritage and development of an ancient tradition of a national technique but also will be new vitality infused into design of modern decorative fabric products. When the traditional folk art was fashionized, the design of unique Miao batik in Guizhou Province on decorative fabrics was endowed with new cultural meanings, increasing its brand value and enabling decorative fabrics to be designed consistent with aesthetic taste of modern people. |
