The Study On Hebingsong's Historiography

He Bingsong is an influential Chinese historian of the 20th century about in 1920s and 1930s, who is the first to make a comprehensive and systematic introduction of Robinson's theory and methods of new history to china. Meanwhile, he combined with Chinese traditional historiography theory, translated and interpreted the western historiography theory, thus he formed his own characteristic historical ideology. Most admirably, he attempted to put the view of"new history"into the teaching practice and compilation of textbooks, which has made a great contribution to construct Chinese new history.The dissertation attempts to combed and study comprehensively He Bingsong's historical ideology through his era background. Also, it discusses on the whole his important contribution to the construction of new history with analysis of his historical ideology, historiography theory, teaching thoughts and practice.Based on the above consideration, the dissertation consists of three parts except of introduction:Chapter One focuses on the introduction of He Bingsong's lifetime. Through his lifetime and experiences, it tries to realize the formation, development and evolution process of his historical ideology. It is indispensible to know exactly his thoughts, because only know about his personal experience and the era background can we learn more deeply his historical ideology.Chapter two discusses the connotation of He Bingsong's historical ideology. Integrating with historical materials and his relative books, this chapter would analyze concretely his historical connotation and interpret it from four aspects: historical ontology, historical epistemology, historical methodology, and historical axiology.Chapter three analyzes He Bingsong's construction to Chinese new history. First, it analyzes the era background and conception of new history. Then, it is to make an objective and overall comment on his contribution to construction of Chinese new history through his translation works and his personal writings as well as his teaching practice.
