Linyi region which lies in the Southeastern Shandong with a long history has not only the splendid culture, magnificent mountains and rivers, but also famous men, pregnant with beauty and the treasure. Folk songs in Linyi art accompanied by thousands of years of history have grown up, and they continue to grow and develop in the long years. Therefore, folk songs of Linyi has high research value concerning history and culture.This Paper is divided into four chapters. the first chapter analyzes folk songs of Linyi on the social context, including its historical and cultural background, geographical and cultural factors and the effects of environmental factors .The second chapter is about genres and characteristics of folk songs of Linyi. Linyi folk songs have rich six genres, including the divertimento, chant, minor, Yangko, hubs. Folk songs of each genre has its different characteristics and are discussed in detail in this chapter.The third chapter discusses the characteristics of the style of folk songs of Linyi. First section which deals with the use of dialect in folk songs illustrates that Linyi dialects have impact on folk songs and then analyzes the scale, mode, melodic features and structure of folk melody, lyrics structure, in order to illustrate the characteristics of folk songs of Linyi. The second section sorts genres of the contents of folk songs of Linyi which have wide range of topics. and different periods are different subjects of folk songs,which can be said to be all-inclusive and rich Colorful from history legend to folk tales from the political struggle to the details of life. History and culture of Linyi is described vividly.The fourth chapter deals with the effect and exploration of the development of folk heritage of Linyi. Finally I would like to be able to carry forward the folk songs of Linyi, and wish that it was recognized by the world.
