Music-accompanied dance is an art form that combines poetry reciting, musical instrument performing, and dancing together to express those art forms at the same time. It was originated from our ancestor’s living. This kind of dance was used for sacrificial ceremonies and palace festivals in the early times. With the development of our society, the improvement of economy, and the increased civilization, the function of music-accompanied dance was changed from entertaining God to people and self entertainment.Music-accompanied dance in Linyi areas has a long history. It has a wide variety with distinctive styles. There are Yangge, Jiaxing Dance, Light Dance, and Drum Dance in nowadays. The use of dramatics props and gongs and drums are very common.Music-accompanied dance in Linyi areas is the spirit carrier of national culture. It reflects local traditional culture, social customs and habits, and spiritual lives. It has a great research value. However, some of the music-accompanied dance are facing the crisis of inheritance and in danger of lost. Through under the protection policy of the government and the innovative development of the folk artisans, music-accompanied dance gained some space to survive. But facing the decision of economic society, its development is still in the passive position. Like any other art forms, music-accompanied dance in Linyi area is the direct witness to local people’s pursue and passion for beautiful life. It can be called the living fossil.Therefore, in the process of its inheritance and development, not only should we use high-tech protections with substantial psychological cognition and abundant material pool, but also should we build systematical operation mechanism, use industrialization to promote its construction, education, and inheritance. Otherwise,the art form of music-accompanied dance would always be in the process of protection and will finally become displays in museums and libraries. It will never have the true vitality and power.This thesis has five parts. The first part is introduction part focused on the background of choosing this topic, which is the inheritance and development of music-accompanied dance in Linyi areas. Its research status, methods, thoughts, and research purpose would also be covered in this part. The second part deals with the overview of music-accompanied dance in Linyi areas. It begins with the analysis of its survival environment from the geographical and cultural prospects. Then followed by the discuss and summering up of its development with the analysis of document literature. The third part has three aspects. It first conducts thoroughly research on the music-accompanied dance of Linyi areas in several counties and towns. With the analysis of its characters, cultural connotation, pattern of expression, and on the basis of forefather’s studies, we have come up with more systematical innovative research and analyze the connections between several forms of music-accompanied dance. The third aspect focuses on the social functions of music-accompanied dance in Linyi areas. The fourth part of the thesis covers the inheritance status and strategy research of music-accompanied dance in Linyi areas. This part is the main focus of this thesis. It starts with the analysis of the inheritance status of music-accompanied dance in Linyi areas from the friendly environment and negative factors perspective, to dissect its future. Then with the analysis of the caused developmental problems, we focused on the perspective of government policy control,community activity supplement, brand industrialization promotion, dance education expansion to discuss the strategy for development. The fifth part is the summering up and conclusion of this thesis.
