Literature is the art of language. Whether the language is good or not is closely related to the life of the work. Yang Jiang creats the literary language by virtue of her particular life experiences and aesthetic interests as well as her profound Chinese and western literature attainments, which put strong vitality into her works. This paper will focus on the language features, rhetoric patterns and the language styles of Yang Jiang's works, In addition, by comparison with her contemporary writers who are also very influential such as Qian Zhongshu, Ding Ling, Zhang Ailing,Ling Shuhua and so on,the paper draws the conclusion that the language in Yang's works is unique and irreplaceable.This paper can be divided into seven parts. Part One serves as the introduction. This part mainly introduces Yang Jiang's life and literary creation and the current study situation of her works. Besides, this part also presents the purpose, significance and the source of corpus of the study.Part Two to Part Six are the body parts, which embrace five chapters. Chapter One mainly deals with the language features of Yang Jiang's works. From the perspective of linguistics, this chapter studies the characteristics of the colloquial languages, idiomatic expressions and the dialects adopted in Yang's works. It also studies her meticulous considerations in her choices of the pronunciation, vocabulary and syntax in her works, which highlights the features that her works are a perfect combination of the ancient and modern, China and abroad.Chpter Two makes a detailed study of the great use of the figures of speech adopted in Yang's works such as metaphor, quotation, parody, synaesthesia, overstatement, analogy and irony. By resorting to deduction, Chapter Three analyses and demonstrates the freshness and plainness, tactfulness, humor and irony of the language used in her works. Chapter Four presents the causes of the formation of Yang's language styles by analyzing Yang's family education, life experiences, and the effects of the tradition as well as some external influences on her. Chapter Five compares the works of Yang Jiang's with those of her cotemporary writers such as Qian Zhongshu, Ding Ling, Zhang Ailing, Ling Shuhua,etc. and shows that the language in her works is unique and irreplaceable.Part Seven is the conclusion, which acts as a summary of the whole study.
