Jean Marie Gustave Le Clezio,one of the most important contemporary writers in France and praised as one of the three leaders of literary of French with Patrick Modiano and Georges Perec,was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in October 2008.Since the first translation version of Desert came into China in 1983,translation works for Le Clezio's master pieces has been undergoing for more than 30 years.The fame and influence of Le Clezio has also been increasing hugely in China at the same time.As one channel for cultural communication,the work of translation is happened under certain circumstances and can cause a series of social connections:the quality of translator is important;the effectiveness of translation communication is limited by the level of social production and can only be achieved with the help of publication,bookstores,libraries,media and other social facilities.Demands from readers should also been considered during the process of translation since the consumption is directly related to the effectiveness of social function.Thus,with the analysis of translation activity,factors of social operation cannot be ignored.For all the above reasons,this paper studies the Chinese translation version of Le Clezio's works with the help of Bourdieu's social field theory and works of translation studies.Through the presents of translation history of Le Clezio's works in China,this paper studies roles played by the author,translator and publication during the process of translation,emphasizing the important influence of Nobel Prize in Literature for translation and communication.In the paper,the enlightenment and importance of cultural-social perspective for translation,theories of Bourdieu's social field,habitus and symbolic capital are all presented in the chapter of introduction.What's more,in the introduction,the paper points out that translation activity is occurred in an inter-active filed composed of the author,translator,publication and readers and two factors of habitus and symbolic capital can affect the process of translation production,communication and consumption.In the first chapter,the paper presents and summaries the translation histories of Le Clezio's works in China for above 30 years,which is divided into two stages in 2008.The paper also pays attention on social context of translation activities and conditions of translation and publication in two stages.The second chapter discusses the relationship between the translation and translator and intervention studies of translator,publication and writer during the translation production.Firstly,the characteristics of Chinese translators are analyzed in the paper,as well as the interaction between text translation and text research.Moreover,the summary of distribution of Chinese publication and the importance of positive attitude of translator are explicated in the paper.In the third chapter,this paper discusses the influence of Nobel Prize in Literature for Le Clezio's works' translation and communication process,pointing out how the Nobel Prize in Literature acts as the symbolic capital in the field of translation.The research of translation is a field of interdisciplinary research and the relationship between translators and social-cultural environment can be explained in a better way with the introduction of Bourdieu's theories of social field,habitus and symbolic capital,which presents an important way for further research in terms of literature translation.
