Along The Pass, And Beyond - The Kangxi Neifu The Engraving Layout Of Standardization And Its Causes

In Qing Emperor Kangxi'years(BC 1661-1722),with its sophisticatedtechnology and elegant qual ity,the printing technology,especially thegovernmental engraved block editing and printing had a significantimprovement from late of Ming Dynasty and became acme 1evel of thetechnology in whole China history．Combining the advanced technology andthe needs of ruling class,the officers and technologists standardizedcharacters feature,format style and classic notes position,which wereused as a model for many years．In this study,I selected three representative books compiled in thoseyears,"Zhu Xi's Whole Book"."Gu Wen Yuan Kam",and"ZhouyiComprimising"to analyze their format standardization trends．and foundout that in the engraved block format in Kangxi years,the font size andconsistency of position,the vertical and horizontal order of the 1ayout,the standardization of format frame,the formatting of written and frameproportion,all of these were partially inherited from those in Mingdynasty and also emphasized and developed the new standardizationaccording to their own political needs and the technical development．Fromthe Doint of view of standardizing of format order,there were full ofofficial indoctrination and statute thoughts,and at the same time,itmet the aesthetic demand of intellectual class in the early Qing Dynasty．The feature of sparse lines and big characters,were not onlY a symbolof the imperial power,but also had a better effect of reading andcommunication．It is no doubt that the trends of official formatstandardization and modularization of Kangxi's had more advantages overthose editions in Ming dynasty．According to the discussion of the standardization trends of block formatin Qing Emperor Kangxi years and its causes,combining with the SOCialinfluence at that time,we recognized that both the pol iticalindoctrination and complex social backgrounds drove the process ofstandardization,which also affected the book development of the OingDynasty．All in all,the excellent production ideas,coming from thecertain historical background,transformed as time changed,thus promotedthe culrural development process．...
