Research On Normal Basis Of Modern Chinese

The normal operation of language cannot be fulfilled without the standardization of language, which is highly valued by Chinese government and all sectors of society. To promote the better functioning of standardization language, plenty of fruitful work has been accomplished. In recent years, with the trend of globalization, development of information technology and popularization of Internet, many new changes have occurred in modern Chinese, which bring up the new demand for the standardization work of modern Chinese.Through combining CNKI(Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure) and Peking University Modern Chinese Corpus into static corpus, then information of Internet into dynamic corpus, this paper conducts a comprehensive study on the phonetics, vocabulary, sentence of modern Chinese and pragmatic standardization phenomenon, and presents its own opinions on how to establish the normal basis of modern Chinese by comparing different views.This paper is divided into 5 sections and 8 chapters.The first section is a comprehensive review for previous work on modern Chinese standardization, affirming the achievements and finding out the deficiency, after which to establish the research objective, the source of corpus, basic thoughts and main methods according to the spirit of "Research starting from question".The second section is divided into four chapters. The first chapters will discuss the standardization for the phonetics which presented from three aspects including literary and colloquial readings, different pronunciation for mandarin and dialect, and new reading for the old words. Then we will discuss the new phenomenon in vocabulary on the basis of corpus, analyzing the standardization question for the foreign words, "Fangyuanci", new words, Internet words, variation words and abusive words. Additionally, when processing the specification involved sentences, we should take the proper cases to consideration, like, specific analysis of incomplete ingredients and redundancy, sentential hybridity, Europeanized sentences, dialect sentences and emerging patterns. Finally, considering the development of modern Chinese and also the language application in our real life, basing on the pragmatics of ethics, variation, stylistic and combining the language phenomenon, the paper will make an analysis about how to deal with pragmatic standardization in academic deeply and fully.After the standardization analysis for the four levels of modern Chinese, the third section will tell the main divergence which exists among the phonetics, vocabulary and sentences. First there is different opinions in standardization for pronunciation, relationship between the mandarin and dialect, and the phenomenon of new reading for old words. Secondly, there is dispute on standardization for lettered words, variation of old words and changed words in idioms. At last, people still hold different views on the questions including whether it’s right to judge one sentence with incomplete and mixed sentence pattern which is already widely-used ill-formed according to the past logical analysis, and whether it’s standardized to use the sentence pattern of dialect. The reason that leads to the divergence may be that people have different understandings on the basic characteristics of language symbol system on one hand, and which is determinable between the academic logic and the common on the other hand.In the forth section, the paper concludes the general principle of standardization for modern Chinese, which is that people should grasp the relationship between stability and development as a whole, unifying the communicative functions of Chinese language with the other functions and fully realizing the relationship between the static and dynamic standardization. Accordingly, the gist of modern Chinese on normal basis:the language standardization should base on stability, sociality and functionality, while the speech should base on effects and ethicality.The last section is epilogue which will make a summarize the general views and conclusions of this paper, point out the insufficiency and make notes and expectations for the research work on this topic in future.
