An Exploration Of Song Wan's Poetry

Song Wan is one of representative figures in poetic circles between Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty. His poetry anthologys came down till now were Collection of AnYaTang, Gleaning of AnYaTang and Collection of RuShu.In the part of introduction, Song Wan's lifetime and his creative works had been reorganized. Because he is living in a obviously special and sensitive time, plus all his lifetime is formidable, these were essential elements of his great work, in the mean time, it is the point of departure of this thesis. It has similarly the status of Song Wan's study in this part. It had been considered that the important of Song Wan and his works had not been treaten seriously through those works nowadays, neither his status nor his accomplishment. These blank of Song Wan's study had been used as the source of this thesis.The first chapter summing up the distinguishing feature of art from Song Wan's lifetime and creative life with a macroscopical angle of view, which were fair-minded and a voice of resentment. Fair-minded and resentment, it is seemed as paradox in one's works, but those paradox made his creative works so special and unique. Intensive study from this point, the thesis throw out four aspects of art items, those were: the painful in prison, sigh with regret for the people's livelihood, plaint of growing older and repose his feeling behind the beauty of nature. The four aspects show evidently Song Wan's characteristic and his brilliance of mind.The second chapter digging deeply of Song Wan's poem source. Band the sensitive times together, it turn out that the were two obviously periods in works of poet: Earlier stage mock-Tang-Dynasty and later stage mock-Song-Dynasty. From Song Wan's poems, his personality shows clearly and strongly. In the earlier stage, his poems were exquisite, delicate plus ingenious, his emotion behind those sentences deeply. This trait pander to the tide that time; in other hand, it's cause of Song Wan's own personality, which is full of smooth and cautious. Been throw into prison mistakenly twice, the pain and strike hardly shocked him, made no more fancy of governor, so this change made the express of emotion more strong and intense, also they has more constituent of comment, more strong language.The third chapter analysed the contributing factor of Song Wan's art item. Earlier age in Ming Dynasty, born in a rich family and nature talent, all made him like a new star, just waiting for the moment; the invasion of Qing break his family and his country, then even worse been thrown into prison mistakenly twice. All these misery had made him different. Although Song Wan has not specialized theory of poetry, nor proposition obviously, but after study penetrate into his work, it could fond still the evidence of his thoughts and disparate opinion in different stages.
