YangEnShou (1835.1.7-1891.5.28), whose drama activities mainly experienced in the period of Xianfeng(1851-1861), Tongzhi(1862-1874) as well as the beginning of Guangxu(1876-1908), was a famous chinese classical play writer of Late Qing Dynasty lived in Changsha, in Hunan province, He put greater importence on drama rather than poetry and other patterns he had written, although he definited himself as a poet. To some extent, his play writing and play theory are of certain characteristics and representatives of Late qing dynasty.This paper is devided into four chapters, The first chapter mainly research on YangEnShou's extraction, life, creation and friends. The second chapter analysis YangEnShou drama creations briefings, creative motivation, theme choice and image of the mold. By analysing Yang's existing dramas, it's apprent that his creative motivation emphasis on revealing self psychology and personal situation, reality concerning and saving the society by drama, expresing Hunan feelings and Hunan culture. his drama is to express concerns to national situation, to expose the corruption of civil servant examination; The shaping of images focused on the loyal individuals. In short, dramas embodied Yang's feudal orthodox ideas of supporting the society as well as reflected the spirit of the playwright of concerning about the realistic and the attention to the function of drama on society.The third chapter mainly explore the art idiosyncratic of YangEnShou drama creations. His drama emboded the theory of "advocating reality in the beginning, while advocating virtual when uesd" in dealing with the relationship of reality and virtual. The prusuit of drama language foucs on student-friendly page lyricalness, take good advantage of the flexiblity of distinctive proverbs, yangko and so on. Compared to JiangShiQuan, drama writer of the middle period of Qing Dynasty, YangEnShou's drama shows a recession in terms of following the GeLv(drama regulations of rhyme). He prefered ot express the implicit meaning of drama rather than obey drama regulations.The fourth chapter discusses drama thought of YangEnShou. This section make futher research from four aspects on the basis of previous studies:Firstly, In the point view of drama status, YangEnShou emphasize drama and poetry are homologous despite different in development. Secondly, his criticism concept of drama embodied in the following three aspects:Pay attention to the sbuject matter and the stucture of drama on creation concept, the beauty and lasting appeal of words on language concept, the special characters of the drama. Thirdly, on rhythmic view, he emphasis the relationship between voice and actors, stage appearance and so on, in addition, he proposed ways of soluting the hardness in drama writing concerning rhythmic. Finally, in view of local opera(HuaBu), we mainly research the different attitute toward local poera of YangEnShou and JiaoXun, the writerof HuaBuNongTan, JiaoXun mainly from moral perspective, while YangEnShou's critical was mainly from art aspacts.
