Since 1990s, the emergency of teleplays on Shan Xi commercial theme arouses wide attention in the society. The teleplays own deep geographical and cultural connotation as well as unique TV arts because they combine the typical culture of Shan Xi commerce and the mass culture of modern media together. In terms of culture, the connotation of Shan Xi commercial culture is accord with the need of commercial culture; in terms of arts, production methods of Shan Xi commercial plays focusing on scale and quality offer a valuable experience for the development of TV art. To some extent, teleplays on Shan Xi commercial theme have got a great progress; however, it is still limited either in depth of culture and art representation.The present thesis is arranged in six parts:Part 1 is an introduction about the thesis, which is made up of research questions; the brief content of the study; the methodologies and significant of present study.Part 2, is also Chapter 1"the overview of teleplays on Shan Xi commercial theme", will present the literature review focusing on the true pictures of teleplays on Shan Xi commercial theme research, conducted from two sections: one concentrates on the theoretical definition of the teleplays on Shan Xi commercial theme and overviews its development; in the other section the reasons why the teleplays on Shan Xi commercial theme are so popular are discussed from 3 different aspects: the needs of the television culture, the needs of social culture and the needs of the audience psychology.Part 3, is also Chapter 3, mainly highlights ?the culture phenomenon in image communication?, which is one of core parts in the study. Four sections are arranged in this part: Section 1"cognition on recorded history culture"mainly discusses from aspects of recorded culture of social history and commercial history. Section 2,"panoramic representation of folk culture". Section 3,"Closure conservative culture of courtyard";Section 4,"extensive and hard commercial culture".Part 4"culture of difficult trade route" is anointer core part of the study as features of teleplays are summarized through discussion on teleplays about Shan Xi commercial theme. It is divided into four sections. The first one is "characterization", which talks about the role of setting and the images of characters; the second one is "plotting", which is analyzed from option of background and the content; the third one is "screen language features" describing from the video style and shooting angle; the fourth one is ?features of sound language?, which is represented from the human voice and music elements;Part 5 is also Chapter four"an outlook of limitations and development on teleplays about Shan Xi commercial theme". It is the most difficult and unique part, which lays out from two sections: one is"the exploration on limited speech expression", which is represented from limitations of writing, texts and expression ways; Section 2, "the outlook on the development of Shanxi Teleplays ", explores the development and practical significance of the issue based on analysis in the cultural representation, artistic characteristics and research limitations.Part 6 is the conclusion of the thesis,which made a brief review on what have been discussed.
