As one of the oldest operas in China,Kunqu Opera has profound historical background and extensive cultural value.Since the 21 st century,nearly 170 new Kunqu Opera repertoires have emerged in the theatre circle.Through text research,this paper combs the overall development of Kunju Opera,a representative new editor since the new century.The full text is composed of six parts: preface,four chapters and summary.The preface defines the concept of "new Kunju Opera",briefly describes the historical background of the new Kunju Opera,combs the research status of the new Kunju Opera,and puts forward the research ideas of this paper.Chapter one discusses the stage division of Kunju Opera since the 21 st century.According to the general creative characteristics and development of plays in different periods,they are divided into three stages.They are "linking the past with the future,classics overlapping(2000-2006)","focusing on the tradition,developing steadily(2007-2011)" and "multilingual context,splendid(2012-2018)".Chapter two discusses the subject classification of Kunqu Opera since the 21 st century.The selection characteristics of different themes are expounded in detail from four aspects: reorganization and adaptation of the repertoire,new edition of ancient costume drama,modern drama and experimental repertoire of small theatre.Chapter three discusses the typical characters of Kunqu Opera since the 21 st century.The emperor image,the literati image and the female image are selected to carry on the key analysis.Chapter ? discusses the artistic features of Kunqu Opera since the 21 st century.This paper probes into the literariness and stage character of the new Kunqu Opera from two aspects of text construction and stage presentation.In the conclusion part,according to the discussion of the first four chapters,it is concluded that the new Kunqu Opera writers since the 21 st century have ushered in the spring of development compared with the last century.It has made some achievements in the diversification of themes,the creation of typical characters and the overall presentation of artistic features.But at the same time,there are also some problems in rhetoric,plot structure,theme idea,stage form and so on.By discussing the achievements,shortcomings and prospects of the new Kunqu Opera writers since the 21 st century,this paper hopes to contribute to the research of the new Kunqu Opera writers on the basis of previous studies and peer studies.
