In this paper, by analyzing the works of A Cheng and Chen Kaige to compare the eighties"root–seeking rend"in different creative subjects, and the similarities and differences under different communication carriers, and by comparing with the current thinking to dig what the literature and film can be used for reference.The introduction mainly bases on the current research status to propose research ideas and further define that the major research subject is A Cheng and Chen Kaige ,and the main period of their work is for the eighties of last century. The text is separated into three chapters to discuss, which are the seeking root persons, the root-seeking trip, and the root-seeking thinking three parts to discusse.The first chapter mainly introduced the origin of root-seeking and persons of A Cheng and Chen Kaige.The background of root-seeking was considered mainly though the subjective and objective aspects to consider. Objective in terms of the eighties was the era of multifarious:Longitudinal speaking, there is a huge material change during the reform and opening up new age and culture revolution period.Horizontally speaking, there are different states of consciousness between the native culture of China and the western. Such intricate interwoven inevitably leads to the fierce collision, the conflict in the process also mutual infiltrates. Subjectively speaking, terms of the eighties were the pure era: opposite to nowadays people who are all under the influence of the market economy, in that era the young people with pure ideals and passion behaved more sincere. In the beginning of reform and opening up period, facing the Chinese and foreign development gap, the Chinese have profound sense of urgency. When we look around the world, there are a stream of worldwide"root-seeking"trend.At that time the root-seeking not only undertook the reflection of the heavy national loss of from the cultural revolution, but also filled with the hope to the future of the China's modernization towards the world of hope.About the part of A Cheng and Chen Kaige, to find the correlation with their works though the introduction of their experience: reading in the Old bookstore gave A Cheng different knowledge construction;special origin in special era granted A Cheng deep sense of edge; the in-depth rural experience provided A Cheng colorful information and material; the boom of the root-seeking trend achieved A Cheng great fame; the experience of living abroad for years provided A Cheng the wider scope of Self rich. Chen Kaige who accepted the traditional education from childhood has deep suffering consciousness and sense of responsibility, cultural revolution made him one hand reflection and repentance heavily, the other hand warmly write"Juvenile poems".Chapter 2 analyzed in detail the A Cheng and Chen Kaige's"root-seeking"asterpiece. A Cheng 's root-seeking representative selection is"Three Kings":"King of Chess"was analyzed from two aspects which are the legend of ordinary as well as the secular battle the ideal;"King of Trees"was analyzed from the perspective of both people and people as well as people and trees."King of the Children"mainly was analyzed with the roles:Laogan,Laidi and Wangfu. Chen Kaige's root-seeking masterpieces,"Yellow Wearth","Big Parade","King of the Children"were selected. To analyze the cultural content of"Yellow Earth" though the screen, color, lighting, modeling, and other aspects. The Chen Kaige's culture thoughts of"Big Parade"were excavated according to the development of the film."King of the Children"was the two main characters' "cross zone", and was analyzed and compared thoroughly through the overall style, character modeling, and the performance of the theme.The third chapter basically expressed the self-thinking and sentiment through the above analysis. This chapter was divided to two parts of the different roads and harvesting of root-seeking. The first part firstly briefly introduced the A Cheng and Chen Kaige's works from the 1980s, and then respectively expounded on the similar personal experience and different art style. About art style, A Cheng is the bystander position and Chen Kaige is participants standpoint; A Cheng goes secular route,while Chen Kaige takes the elite route. Through the angle, route and further thinking analysis about A Cheng and Chen Kaige, two problems were found: one is the contradictions of creation identity and creation angle;second is the contradictions of creation carrier and creation route.The second part with wider vision, my ideas were expressed though the relationship between literature and film, and rethinking of the root-seeking two aspects. This article attempts to taking A Cheng and Chen Kaige who in literature or film are the root-seeking representative as a starting point to think, ultimately in order to offer some practical reference for the development of new century literature and film.
