With people's increasing awareness of the significance of listening competence and with the development of modern technology, more and more universities and colleges begin to try on English listening teaching in multimedia environment. The application of multimedia overcomes the weakness of traditional listening teaching and has a positive influence on English listening teaching by providing a large number of colorful language materials and real language situations in a limited period. However, many college students feel lost in the face of so many colorful multimedia resources. Thus they do not know how to take control their study and promote their learning autonomy so as to make the best use of multimediaSince 1970s, learning strategies in linguistic area has become a heated issue in the field of linguistic researches. A large number of researches conducted on learning strategies have already confirmed that learning strategies are helpful to learners'language learning. Based on the illustration of theories and previous training researches on learning strategies, this research was conducted, lasting for one semester. 56 sophomores from two International Trade classes, Wuhan University of Science and Technology Zhongnan Branch, participated in the experiment. One class of 29 students chosen to get listening strategy training(LST) for one semester was the experiment group, and the other class of 27 students taught in the same way as usual served as the control group.By using SPSS17.0 to analyze the data collected from two tests and observing the diaries kept by the experiment class, this research came to a conclusion that LST in multimedia environment has a positive effect on students'use of listening strategies as well as their awareness of learning autonomy, and ultimately improves students'listening proficiency. In spite of some limitations, this research confirmed the positive effect and necessity of LST on multimedia English listening teaching. This is helpful to future LST and listening teaching.
