Rorschach Inkblot Test (RIT) is the well-known psychological projective test for personality assessment. Actually, it is a task required solving questions, namely a subject of perception and cognition. Few eye-movement researches of RIT have been performed with objects mostly focused on psychotic patients, and more with normalcy and morbidity as the angle of view or with different sorts of psychotic patients as the angle of view. It is seldom involved into distinction of other traits of research object. And take this as the angle of view to study the characteristics of the research objects in RIT. The cognitive style is just such kind of cognitive preference trait. From this visual angle, we can study eye movement rules of people with different cognitive style when they observe such special symmetrical abstract figures as Rorschach inkblot figure. This research adopts testing method and experimental method. Firstly, it adopts field cognitive style theory to divide the research objects, to perform GEFT (group embedded figure test) as for more than 200 university students with different major backgrounds. By using Eyelink 2000 eye tracker, perform test as for selected 50 typical students with typical field-independent cognitive styles and field-dependent cognitive styles. Try to combine the assessment index of RIT to obtain eye movement rules at free association stage and inquiry stage of RIT under the condition of different cognitive styles; and analyze the response of RIT so as to summarize the RIT response rules of the research object with different cognitive styles. Results are list as below:1.Eye movement rules of free association stage: field cognitive style shall have major effects on the movement index at this stage. When people with field-dependent cognitive style response, fixation count and saccade count is less, but the average saccade distance is longer; vice versa for those with field-independent style. Color shall affect the subject of the research. When chromatic figure the response latency, fixation and cascade count is more, but the average saccade distance is shorter; vice versa for achromatic figures.2.Eye movement rules of inquiry stage: field cognitive style shall have major effects on the movement index at this stage. And the rules are the same as which of free association stage. 3. Response rules: there are apparent differences in movement response times of the subjects with different cognitive styles, movement response times of the people with field-independent cognitive style are more than that of those with field-dependent cognitive style while the other indexes don't reach remarkable levels.
