As a way to study the history of folk music,oral history pays closer attention to music itself as well as the important role that humans play during the process when music came into being,spreads and influences society gradually.Besides,it relates music to a more comprehensive social life.This article proceeds from the oral histories stated by the transmitters,the audience and the researchers of Mukamu in Turpan,a large-scale form of artistic performance.It centers on the oral history stated by TuErXun?SiMaYi,the transmitter of Mukamu,proved by the audience of Mukamu and supported by oral materials from the researchers and people around them.By interviewing people with different social identities,the article acquires how music,society,nationalities,groups and individuals influence one another,as well as how music,politics,economy, customs,education,etc,interact with one another.It also makes an effort to trace back the historical figures of how Mukamu in Turpan formed and developed,and to get it clear that how Mukamu may carry on and develop under current social conditions.
